These systems are the most durable of the above grade coating systems. The epoxy/ polyurethane systems are designed for both functionality and aesthetics. They usually stand up well in chemical environments. The epoxy is designed to protect the substrate. It is available in complimentary colors that allow it to be over coated in a minimum number of applications. Since epoxies are not stable in UV Light they tend to chalk and break down over periods of time causing unsightly finishes. To prevent damage to the epoxy we apply a topcoat of Polyurethane. The Polyurethanes are designed to withstand UV Light and are strong enough that they will hold the various sheens they are available in and maintain color retention that they are specified for. The most common Polyurethane finish is a high gloss and is available in many tint able colors including Federal standards used in Industry.
